Girls can do science too!
With over 90 lectures under its belt in the US and Asia, the "Expanding Your Horizons" (EYH) programme is about to hit Europe. This international programme, whose aim is to encourage girls to follow a career in science, will be holding a "dynamic day of science" at the Geneva International School on Saturday 14 November, starting at 8.30 a.m. The idea is to give 11-15 year-old girls an insight into the types of career that exist in science through a series of interactive workshops and encounters with women scientists. CERN, and in particular the ATLAS experiment, is taking part in this event by sending along some ten women physicists, who will talk about their jobs and run some of the fun workshops. Don't miss this opportunity to sign up your teenage daughters – and get them to tell their friends.
La science, c’est aussi pour les filles !
Après avoir organisé plus de 90 conférence aux Etats-Unis et en Asie, le programme « Expanding Your Horizons/Élargis tes Horizons (EYH) » s’exporte en Europe. Ce programme international, qui vise à inciter les jeunes filles à poursuivre des carrières scientifiques, propose une journée d’animations à l’Ecole internationale de Genève, le samedi 14 novembre, à partir de 8h30. L’idée est de faire découvrir les métiers des sciences à des jeunes filles de 11 à 15 ans au travers de rencontres avec des femmes scientifiques et d’ateliers interactifs. Le CERN, et particulièrement l’expérience ATLAS, participe à la conférence avec une dizaine de physiciennes qui expliqueront leur métier et animeront des ateliers ludiques. N’hésitez pas à inscrire vos adolescentes ou à en parler autour de vous.
